We’ve all been trained to use our mind to navigate our way through life and of course that has served us in many ways. But our society has also trained us to discount and habitually overlook the silent presence that is the core of our Being.
Stressful times motivate us to look deeper. And when the mind can’t answer big questions, can’t deliver the clarity, our best option is to return to the well of inner silence. This well never runs dry. Drinking from this well does not require long periods of meditation, just commitment and brief moments in our day.
Once we identify the silence that is under any and all thinking and realize this silence is always present (even with the mind going), then we gain the ability to choose. We can stop following thought streams and focus our attention on this inner silence and drink deep of the peace, ease and clarity of the conscious water of Life.
No matter what’s going on in the world and in our lives, this is the best thing we can do. This is the refuge from the complexity and chaos of the world, the place of solace, the place where we are refreshed and renewed.
